I found it interesting to look back at the post I wrote almost 2 weeks ago on what was about to happen on the financial market.

I’m writing this post on September, 19th after a chaotic day on the financial markets. If you look at the chart you can clearly see a downwards going trend and the bouncing-ball pattern that I was talking about.

I’m convinced it’s only the beginning of tremendous changes that will have dramatic impacts on firms. The reasonable question that I’m asking is whether European firms’ structure will resist the shock and how adaptable a business will need to be to stay alive.

My take:

If I had only one advice to give I’d be this one. Make sure your business is designed to be ultra-flexible and reduce fixed assets to the minimum. This reduction of fixed assets (including personal costs) may well lead to a reshaping of the labor market too. If firms eventually must reduce risks, workers will have to adapt and a new generation of independent specialized nomad workers may emerge.
